Murder on the Orient Express
University of Georgia Spring Production 2025
The joy and challenge of designing an impression of the luxurious Orient Express is beyond exciting. This excitement is only magnified as I investigate how we move seamlessly from one beautiful train car to the next; after all, a play about a marvelous movable mechanism such as the legendary Orient Express needs to traverse from one setting to another with grace and beauty. Once the logistics of transforming the set from one look to the next was established came the fun of adding the glamour and lavishness. The train is a train; and yet it is also simply just a memory of a train. It exists only as much as our hero needs it to discover his next clue. A blue and black marble flows in and out of space, assembling and dissipating almost like magic.
